Public Bus and Songthaew Taxi
From Chiang Mai - Public Buses depart from the Chang Puak Bus Station (just North of the moat in Chiang Mai. Not to be confused with the Arcade Bus Station which is the main inter-province bus station), their final destination is usually Fang or Tha Ton. There are two options, either the cheaper public non-AC big bus, or the faster AC public minivan (159 Baht per person).
It is best to get off the bus / minivan at the main Chiang Dao bus stop in the centre of Chiang Dao town (near the Tesco Lotus Express, opposite the Star bar, rather than the Chiang Dao bus station) as there are not always songthaew taxis at the bus station. From there you can get a songthaew taxi (or songtao - a pick-up truck with roof and two rows of seats in the back) to Chiang Dao Nest 1 and 2. The songthaew costs 150 Baht for the 7km journey.
From Fang / Tha Ton direction there are public buses (Fang and Tha Ton), and public minivans (Fang only) that stop in Chiang Dao enroute to Chiang Mai.
Cycle
We get a number of people who cycle from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao every year. To welcome and encourage cyclists to Chiang Dao Nest we are giving 10% off Chiang Dao Nest accommodation for people who undertake the 80km (approx) challenge of cycling all the way. Car / Motorbike
From Chiang Mai head due north on the 107 highway, from Chang Puak Gate in the city, and keep going for about 75km. At the mid-point of the Chiang Dao bypass, make a left turn towards the Chiang Dao mountain and cave. Follow this road for about 5km, past Chiang Dao Cave to Chiang Dao Nest 2 and 700 metres further, taking the left-hand fork to Chiang Dao Nest 1.
